The Homer Laughlin China Co..Fiesta. Dinner party

So here it is the Homer Laughlin "fiesta" dinner set. Now I know I say this about every set, but I really do love this one. It isn't that I'm fickle (although I am) but I just love the set that I'm using at any particular time. The research that I did on this company was fascinating. I had no idea that it was considered such a part of American cultural history. I think that I love the researching about my table ware as much as the stuff itself. You can gain such an insight into the cultural chain of events that led to the start of so many companies.

Here I have shown you several pictures, which I agree are fairly similar, but, indulge me I can never decide which one is best. Therefore, accepting that this is indeed my blog and I can put what ever I like, I just put on loads. I mean, Blogs can get fairly full anyway and I'm sure some of you actually skip through some of the posts and then surf down the pictures of any one post on top of that....so I'm blow'd if I'm going to let you get away with that, when I have put in so much effort..

This company has been making crockery for decades and this particular set called "Cinnabar" is no longer made (well that's what I was led to believe). But it is possible to buy a wonderful lime green colour which when the pennies allow I am going to buy myself...Yes I know its not strictly in keeping with the purpose of the blog..but it is for my own personal use. I think that it would co-ordinate beautifully with this set. This set By the way is an 8 place setting. My favourite size. Not just because my table sits 8 people comfortable but because it allows for breakage if you tend to be a 6 person dinner party'er...if you know what I mean? Although, the cups and saucers don't get used all that often...as cups and saucers.......I do not see why you can't use them as desert utensils. I mean how good would it look if you walked through the dinning room door with a tray full of dainty cups and saucers filled to the brim with chocolate mousse? A little Biscotti snugly tucked down the side on the saucer? See what I mean? Just think outside the box. It's all allowed.

The candles for this table were some cheap (oops sorry) inexpensive candles that I purchased
in a 2 dollar store or something of equivalent type. They were full length and so therefore with this particular candelabra were to high. So I cut them down in half and cut one end to a point to match the others. I don't like things that block your view of people sitting opposite you on the table. For photos etc, it's all good, but not real life. This candelabra was bought for me by a friend years ago and I love it. It's definately not op-shop, but then again who says you won't find one like it..

The linens are quite interesting I think. I actually used the same set as I used for the pink table posting, but with some alterations. I added a newly acquired small table cloth, which when I got home realised that it is in fact too small for my table, but would make a great runner. So here it is. it has many of the same colours running through it as the table cloth, but much bigger check. I like it adds a another element to the table. I personally like things that you have to really study to say what you were looking at. But, lets be honest most people don't really do that... that's just me.....but they do go away saying how nice it looked.

The centre cloth is just one of the napkins that I made for the plum table posting. It matches the crockery so well.

The flowers were my usual faux flowers brought out of their basket and literally thrown (ok not literally thrown) on to the table and then scattered around the centre piece.

I did think of getting the pink glasses out for this table but decided that were probably to antique looking. but I may try it another time. I know..I'm so daring............
